Scouts

Most of our Scouts have moved up through each of the sections, many starting with us age six as a Beaver. By the time they reach Scouts they’re likely to have experienced over 20 “nights away” with us, and many more days of adventure and challenges, they’ll have made some good friends and had plenty of laughs along the way. We also welcome Scouts who are new to the Group and enjoy supporting them through their first experience of the Scouting organisation.

In a safe, friendly, environment Scouts learn how to master essential skills to help them with the challenges that they may encounter in live, life skills that may help at school, university and beyond.

Scouts find strength in teamwork and have the courage to take the lead, solve problems and become good citizens. We encourage Scouts to explore the world around them by having fun and adventures with their friends. Under the guidance of fully trained leaders they gain new skills and try out activities that they’d never get the chance to do at home or at school, achieving things they never thought possible. Scouts work towards the Chief Scout Gold award, completing many badges and challenges along the way.

Camping is very important to our scout group and we offer a variety of camps and nights away experiences, including the chance to explore international camps and adventures.

We aim to offer a least one camp a term even in the winter, and in the summer term we have at least two weekend camps, plus a week-long summer camp.

Some camps will be themed with Scouts working towards a specific badge or outcome, while other camps are activity-based with lots of adventurous challenges. We also camp with Richmond District at larger events, these camps are very popular, and new friendships are often formed with other Scouts in the District.

Don’t worry if you haven’t been a Beaver or a Cub, it’s not too late to join the adventure, we often have young people join us at Scout age. They are always made to feel very welcome.

You can add your details to our joining list using the link below, and we’ll be in touch once a place becomes available.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
