Jamboree Camp
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers from across the District joined together to take part in an amazing Jamboree right here in the UK, at Paccar’s Scout Camp. Our camp coincided with the global Scout Jamboree, which this year was held in South Korea which our Scout leader, Jonny, was selected to attend.
For our UK leg of jamboree fun Scout groups represented different countries from around the world to celebrate with a traditional jamboree camp. Each group provided fun activities, built a gate, and dressed up as their chosen country creating an atmosphere of international celebration. On camp we were challenged to take part in Australian ‘I’m a celebrity trials’, sampled foods from around the world: donuts from South Africa, paella from Spain, Korean fried chicken and pancakes; built flat pack furniture from Sweden; learned to dance with Maori poi balls; made boomerangs and didgeridoos; got creative with Japanese Origami; ran the colour run and so much more……. We danced, sang, and made friends and memories for life.
We also got to try out Paccar’s many adventurous activities such as Tomahawk throwing, rifle shooting, archery, climbing, high ropes, zip wires and 3G swing.
We enjoyed some time off site too, with a trip to Whipsnade Zoo and a swim at Coral Reef.
A huge thank you to all the leaders across the District who gave up their time to help create a fabulous camp and experience for our young people.
