About Us

Leaders

We have a small but dedicated group of volunteers who work together as a team to provide a varied programme, packed with opportunities for adventure and excitement, and preparing young people with skills for life, both during our weekly meetings and nights away experiences.

Our leaders are fully DBS checked, hold First Aid certificates, and are trained on safety and safeguarding.

Young leaders

We are very lucky to have a wonderful team of young leaders at 2nd Teddington. They work alongside our leaders, as well as organising games, they help plan and deliver the badge work across all our sections. These enthusiastic young leaders volunteer on a regular basis and are an invaluable part of our scout group. Many have been members of 2nd Teddington since they started as Beavers at just 6 years old. The young leaders are taking part (or have completed) the Young Leaders Training scheme and most hold certificates in First Aid. We hope they will go on to become amazing adult leaders.

District and International Events and Camps

2nd Teddington take part in many of Richmond District events, camps, and competitions, ranging from cooking competitions to rifle shooting. We recently won first place at the NPL Water Rocket Challenge and came home with a lovely trophy.

Several of our Scouts have been selected to represent us at previous World Jamborees and have visited Japan and America. Our own Scout Leader has been selected to lead a unit of Explorers for the next World Jamboree 2023, in South Korea.

We love to camp and offer several nights away experiences each year across all sections, from one-night sleepovers and camps for Beavers to week-long summer camps for Cubs and Scouts and as many other weekend camps that we can fit in, including a winter camp for the brave and hardy!

In recent years we have added international trips to our adventures. In 2019 we took a group of 25 young people to Switzerland and stayed in the international camp site in Kandersteg. This was an amazing adventure that we won’t forget. We travelled from St Pancras to Kandersteg by train, which was an adventure in itself, during our stay we experienced mountain hikes, water rafting, high ropes, cable cars and so many other adventurous activities. We met with other Scouts from around the world and celebrated with a huge campfire learning new songs and singing some old favourites.

In 2022 we finally made it to Iceland, after postponing the trip for a year due to COVID. This amazing trip was a huge adventure for Scouts as young as 11 years old, we camped beside a lake, and were amazed by the natural wonders of Iceland, great memories and new friendships were formed, a life changing adventure.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
